Farmers protest in MP against alleged shortage of urea, fertilizers, electricity shortage

Scores of enraged farmers staged protests and road blockades at two different places in Madhya Pradesh on Monday, alleging the shortage of Urea and other fertilizers, along with a lack of electricity.

The protests were held at Sheopur and Chhindwara.

Thousands of farmers had reached the Urea distribution centre at the Parasia road in Chhindwara in the morning. However, they alleged that they did not get Urea at the centre despite waiting in long queues for a long time.

Consequently, the irate farmers came onto the road and staged a protest. They blocked the road and raised slogans against the administration.

At Sheopur, the angry farmers staged a road blockade alleging that the Chambal canal for irrigation has been damaged for a long time, but it is not being repaired. The farmers sat on the Sheopur-Kota highway and blocked the road for nearly two hours.

The farmers also alleged that they were not getting adequate electricity, and there is also an acute shortage of fertilizers.
